Philippians 4:4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Ok... I just had to start there!!!!
As many of you know already {through an e-mail I sent out in the last 24 hours}, Ethiopian adoptions are being heavily effected. Here is the e-mail I sent:
Hello my dear friends and family.
I'm writing you this evening with a heavy heart. Although my heart is heavy, it feels very much at peace in the Lord! He is good---ALL the time!
Below is a letter from our adoption agency with a bit of information that has sprung up this passed week within Ethiopian adoptions. They{The Ethiopia Ministry of Women's Affairs} are proposing to reduce the amount of adoptions out of Ethiopia by as much as 90%! That is devastating! Devastating for the orphans in that country and for the families waiting for their sons and daughters.
I'm personally asking for two things: prayer and sign a petition {below is the link to sign under JCICS Call to Action}. As of right now that is all we can do. If gone into effect, it will drastically slow adoptions all together and will postpone our adoption by many many years! Derek and I recently have witnessed first hand the Mighty Power of answered prayer. We trust that God will take care of us regardless of what He chooses to do. Claim that with us today!
We are sad but settling in the Peace that we have in our Savior and Lord! Pray for our family that we stay on our knees in front of our Jesus!
Thank you for your prayers!
Joyfully His,
Derek and Christy Boyd
Confirmation today:
The United States Department of State announced today that this reduction {in cases viewed in a day by about 90%} will be going into effect tomorrow, March 10, 2011. They are still asking that we let our voices be heard. It is always good to let them know we are out here and we care. The petition is at 13,000+ signatures already. The Joint Council is hoping for 250,000 signatures before Saturday. We are way off as of now. Please sign. It only takes a minute.
***Click here*** Sign the petition to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Meles Zenawi – and pass it on!
Our agency has been diligent at communicating with the families they represent. We really have no concrete information on how this impacts us personally except for the drastic slow down in our own adoption journey.
With that said, we are trusting in the Lord's Sovereign plan for our lives and the lives of all involved. He has not forgotten. He cares.
Thanks to many, many of you that have e-mail or called us. We know you are praying for us...we can tell!!! God is at work and we want to remain faithful to Him!
May God receive the Glory!!!!
