It is hard to believe it's been 3 years since we "officially" began our adoption. Three years today, Derek and I signed the paperwork and sent in the first check to our adoption agency. We prayed over that package as we mailed it off and then went out to Starbucks to celebrate the beginning of this new journey. Never did we imagine what God had in store for our family.
We, as a family and individuals, have grown and changed significantly. As hard as it has been to wait, God has used this time to work in our lives and for that we are grateful.
I have said many times that God has brought encouragement at just the right moments. In the last few months there has been nothing new to report. NO movement. NO number change. NO referral. That's been rough. But a few weeks ago, we received a package in the mail. It was no ordinary package. It was from a coworker of Derek's that he has gotten to know over the last few years.
His name is Taiwo and he is from Nigeria. He lives in the States while his wife is back in Nigeria. He went to visit her recently and they wanted to make us a gift. So, she handmade Derek and I authentic African dresses. Unbelievable!!!! We have never met his wife. I've never met Taiwo.
Out of the kindness and generosity of their hearts they made us these treasured outfits.
Thank you Lord for these bits of encouragement amidst the difficult times. We are still trusting you with your perfect timing and plan for our lives.
