We have had quite a few weeks rounding out November. It has been busy but well worth it. My mom celebrated 60 years of life this month and I decided to surprise her for her birthday...and boy was she suRprisEd. I asked my friend Megan if she wanted to road trip to Ohio with me and she said yes, to my surprise{thanks Megan, it was fun and we still like each other after 26 hours in the car!!!}! So, with a short few weeks of planning, we and the 4 girls headed out. Needless to say my mom was shocked! My dad had managed to keep this trip a total surprise {thanks Dad, I know it wasn't easy}. When my Mom arrived home from work that afternoon she saw a yard full of kids running around and just slammed on the brakes...and that is when the screaming began! Her face was priceless. I think she is still in shock!
While we were visiting, we packed our time full of family visits, eating, playing, shopping, laughing {a little crying} and loads of hugs and kisses. It was a perfect way to show my Mom how much I truly love her and am thankful for her. I love you, Mom.
Highlights from the trip...
Arriving home on Wednesday afternoon, just beating the snow storm, we cruised right into Thanksgiving day. Thank you to our friends, Ben and Megan and their family, who graciously invited us to join them for dinner. We had a wonderful day. With snow on the ground, we started our day with hunting {Derek, of course}, pulling out some Christmas decor, watching the Macy's Day parade, playing in the snow, EATING, and giving thanks to our Great God for carrying us through another year. It was good to reflect back on the year and see how the Lord used our lives for His glory and our good...the good and the not so good. Thank you God for choosing what you did for our family. We pray we become more like you each and everyday. Thank you for not giving up on a sinner like me but going above and beyond and using this same sinner to carry out your will.
Thanksgiving day...

And then today. It was a great day filled with friendship, talking, laughing and praying. We are so blessed by all of our friendships. God has placed many people in our lives at just the right time and we are grateful. Our special friends, Todd and Julie and their beautiful boys were in from out of town and we were able to enjoy some time together with the whole gang for the first time in a long while. What a rich time spent together. Thanks for hosting, Kristy.

After our time all together, we ventured out into the cold with Dan and Kristy to hunt for the perfect Christmas tree. This is a few year running tradition and it was super fun. I think we both succeeded in finding our perfect Christmas trees! The best part was no one cried!!! Yeah!
We are very blessed and abundantly thankful!!!!
