Marvelous

On Sunday pastor preached study #2 from his Easter series.  It was titled God's Provision- It Is Marvelous!  I enjoyed so many points of this message but he spoke about using the word marvelous.  We tend to describe a meal as marvelous or a gorgeous sunny day but the word is much deeper.  One of the definitions in Webster's Dictionary is miraculous; supernatural.  He challenged us to ask God to show us marvelous things in our lives.

Back up a few weeks (even months).
I had mentioned that we were in the middle of many uncertainties in life and one was regarding Derek's job.  His company was in the middle of a major restructuring over the last 6 months or so.  There was a time that we weren't sure if he would have a job at the end of it all.  Scary.  We really had to rely on the Lord in trust that He had this taken care of.  So we prayed.  After we found out he was offered a new position within the company we were relieved and praising God.  Then the next round began.  "You have to move" was what Derek heard coming from the other end of the phone.  Praising Him (Christ) for an answered prayer but saddened by having to leave this place we love and have called home for 9 years were the emotions pulling at our hearts.  So, we prayed some more.  In the midst, we decided NOT to share this news with our daughters as we did not want to burdened them until the final word.  So, we shared with a few close friends and family for support and more prayer.  For 3 months straight we felt burdened by the possibility of having to move.  Do we take the new job, do we look for something else, do we, do we, do we....many questions.  Our hearts and lives are here.  We have built our family here.  We didn't want to go, but we wanted to obey what God wanted us to do!  Torn.
We took the job.  We settled in.  3 months we waited.  We prayed.  We cried.  We started to get the house ready to be put on the market to sell.  We trusted!
I said over and over to our friends, "if we get to say it will be a miracle and a miracle alone".  The company wanted us to move, end of story.  We prayed.  Then it happened.....
March 4 Derek got a call.  Out of the blue.  "You can stay, you don't have to move"!!!!!
I have never felt more relieved!  Overjoyed!
It was MARVELOUS!!!! Our miracle.
After we let the news and celebration of our hearts settle in, we decided to share the story with our girls.  It was much easier being able to share on this side of the decision.  We did not want to miss out on the glory God could receive and showing our girls that God answered our prayers!  They were pumped (after we talked Adah down off the ceiling by repeating over and over that we were NOT moving!).
So, we get to stay.  It was so fun telling our friends.  There were screams, shouts and even one friend fell to the floor in relief!
We are secure in our Lord, Jesus Christ.  He is the only way.  Put your hope, faith, trust and life into His hands.  You will not be disappointed.  He is here in the good and the impossibly difficult.
