When you have as much fun as we did this weekend it's hard to narrow the pictures down. As you can see, I over indulged in my picture taking and it was fun! We really filled our long Labor Day weekend. It began with Derek taking the day off on Friday. I was so surprised and enjoyed my time with him immensely! Saturday and Sunday we hung out with friends for some dinners and smores on the fire. Monday we took a family day and went to Minocqua. We started with breakfast at Paul Bunyan's. It is an all you can eat family style restaurant. They bring you all the food you could ever want right to your table. They are known for their tasty doughnuts...my favorite. Yummy. We spent the next several hours at the Wildwood Wildlife Park. This zoo is amazing. We loved it because it is so hands on. My girls love to cuddle anything fluffy and so it was difficult to tear them away from the bunny stall! Every bunny was snuggled at least 10 times. :) Other highlights were getting to hear the wolves howling, feeding the bears, monkeys and deer, and of course, the budgie encounter. This was super cool. You were able to go into the huge bird cage and the birds were landing all over you. The girls were a little scared at first and then they did not want to leave! We were there for quite a while feeding all the beautiful colored birdies.
It's not a completed day without ice cream, so that is how we finished up. And to top off the weekend, we were invited to some friends for smoked ribs, pulled pork and fish. We ate way too much of this good food.
It was such a blessing to be together so much as a family. I loved having Derek around, which is sacred time these days. Life gets busy and filled with responsibilities, so we enjoyed each other every moment we were given.
Enjoy the pics!
