Today, we went to the courthouse for our scheduled hearing to have Jude readopted. Here's a brief explanation of what that means.
On July 10, 2014, Jude became a member of our family- "officially"! He came home with an Ethiopian birth certificate in hand. It was recommended that we readopt him in the USA so he would be issued a Wisconsin birth certificate. In the long run, this makes it so much easier for Jude to get a job, or a marriage license or apply to colleges. It was also an opportunity to give him the name we chose for him. Up to this point, his name was Mengestu Derek {it is customary in Ethiopia to give the child the father's first name as their last name}.
Today, December 16, 2014, our son was given a new name:
Jude Mengestu Boyd along with a Wisconsin birth certificate!

It was a very special day for our family. We were blessed by some friends that came to support and love our family. Thank you!!!! We cherish you all!!!
We are so loved!
After court, we took everyone to The Mint for a celebratory breakfast!!!
We waited so long for this moment and we are praising God it finally came!!!
